Illuminvok sessions are built for adults who already know why they are in the room. You will not find a kids-first ladder of badges or recital nights. Instead you get clear time on a maintained acoustic kit, optional coaching, and space to work at a realistic volume for a city block.
Open kit hours
Reserve a self-directed slot when you bring your own plan: rudiment cycles, song charts, or click-track stamina. Illuminvok leaves the metronome, pads, and spare sticks ready so you can start within minutes of walking in from East 6th.
Open hours work well for players who rehearse with bands elsewhere in Austin and need a quiet place to isolate problem fills. Evening weekday slots fill first; Saturday mornings stay available for longer runs.
Coached practice
Coached sessions are one-to-one. We start with a short listen — how you sit, how the hats speak, where the backbeat lands — then choose a narrow goal for the hour. Typical Illuminvok coaching topics include independence rebuilds, odd meters, brush work, and reading charts for covers.
Coaching is optional; many regulars mix open kit weeks with a coached check-in once a month. You stay in control of the agenda.
Hand percussion blocks
Not every groove lives on a five-piece kit. Illuminvok keeps cajón, frame drums, and rope-tuned drums available for players who want pocket work sitting down or standing. These blocks pair well with songwriting sessions or acoustic duo prep.
How booking works
Message Illuminvok with preferred days and whether you want open time or coaching. We confirm availability by email or phone and hold the room for you. Arrive a few minutes early to settle; sessions end cleanly so the next player starts on time.
